After nearly 24 hours of clashes with protesters, Pakistani police withdrew from former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan's residence in Lahore. Pakistan's Geo News attributes the decision to the Pakistan Super League cricket match, due to be played in Lahore today. Subsequently, the Lahore High Court ordered an arrest operation to stop Khan's arrest by 10am Thursday.
Clashes broke out between Khan's supporters and the police who wanted to arrest him in the Toshakhana case Tuesday night. The PTI chairman said today that the Islamabad police's "real intention" was not to arrest him but "to kidnap and kill him".
Photos of placeholders allegedly fired by police are shared on social media. Protests have spread to Pakistan's major cities including Islamabad, Peshawar, Karachi and Rawalpindi after Khan urged his supporters to continue fighting the government.
